Free Vaccination : Mrs Soludo Urges Mothers To Vaccinate Infants Against Rotavirus…

Written by on April 11, 2023

Anambra State Governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo says the ongoing free Rotavirus vaccination in the state serves a great opportunity for pregnant and nursing mothers to vaccinate their infants against the deadly disease.

Mrs. Soludo, who stated this in Awka, noted that the essence of making the exercise free of charge is to take away the heavy financial burden it would have cost poor and low-income families to get their kids vaccinated, as well to ensure that the child-killer virus does not hold sway in Anambra State.

She said that it is important for parents, particularly mothers to take the progamme seriously, explaining that it is only when every child is captured in the vaccination process that the disease would have been said to be defeated.

Mrs Soludo also stated that keeping good hygiene is equally important in fighting the disease, and appealed to parents to monitor what their children eat, their environment, as well as to maintain the right-hand washing hygiene.

While appealing to all concerned stakeholders to create more awareness about the free Rotavirus vaccination in Anambra State, the Governor’s wife implored those that are administering the services to ensure that no child is left out in the exercise.

It would be recalled that just recently, Anambra State Government, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, worked out a deal to administer the Rotavirus vaccine across public health facilities in the state free of cost.

The free vaccine, which is given to infants between the ages of zero to twelve months, is to prevent diarrhea-related sickness, which comes with dangerous symptoms like severe watery diarrhea, fever and vomiting.
