Soludo Restates Commitment To Transparent Administration…

Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his idea of unionism is the solidarity of all workers in Anambra, both tricycle operators and women selling various items under the sun who are working and contributing to the development of Anambra State.

Addressing the State workforce at the Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka during the 2023 International Labour Day, Governor Soludo maintained that despite the fourth industrial revolution and the fact that digitization and robotics will become major threats to human labour in decades to come, people should continue to celebrate the human labour stating that his commitment to the welfare of workers in Anambra State is not for publicity.

He said that despite the dwindling revenue and lean treasury, his government is committed to improving the welfare of workers and disclosed that already ten thousand people are receiving digital skills, assuring that he will continue to run a transparent government.

He said that the budget for this year is predicated on generating about four-billion-naira Internally Generated Revenue monthly, adding that already the State is making an average of two billion naira monthly.

Under the federation account, according to the Governor his administration is running about four to five billion deficits, but at the same time, the House of Assembly approved for him last year, to borrow one hundred billion naira but he has not been able to borrow one kobo out of that, because the government is trying to negotiate the best of rates due to the humongous nature of commercial bank rate.

The Governor stated that when he assumed office, he had pressure to review the salary upwards and cut the workforce by half and significantly do the consequential adjustment because the revenue is not increasing, calling on everybody to work towards increasing the revenue.
