Anambra State Govt To Embark On Palliative Work On Nnobi Erosion Site…

Government of Anambra State has promised to provide immediate intervention and remedial measures on the Ụmụagụ Nnobi road, along Nnobi-Ideanị-Nkpor federal highway which is on the verge of being cut off by gully erosion.
Speaking during an assessment visit to the location, Governor Soludo called on the federal government and development partners in the state to intervene as controlling such menace is beyond the capacity of the state government.
Governor Soludo said that Anambra State government is already working on the Erosion menace at the Onitsha-Owerri federal road and described the state as the erosion capital of the world.
The Governor called on Ndị Anambra to join hands with his government to control erosion across the state by engaging in healthy habits towards the environment.
He enumerated the positive habits to include, digging of pits to serve as retainers for run-off waters within compounds and non-blockage of drainage systems, among others, adding that communities have a major role to play to ensure compliance by individuals.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, Transition Committee Chairman for Idemili South Council Area, Mrs. Amaka Obi, among others, accompanied the Governor on the inspection visit.
