Anambra celebrates hard work, not criminals, says Soludo… 

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has said the state celebrates hard work and entrepreneurship and not criminality, maintaining that citizens of the state, who had contributed immensely to the development of the state, would always be honoured.

Soludo spoke, yesterday, during the maiden Anambra Investment Summit, powered by the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), and themed: “Role of Corporate Governance in Building Sustainable Businesses.” It held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in the state capital, Awka.

He said the ICC would be named after his immediate predecessor, Willie Obiano, being one of his legacy projects, aside the international cargo airport, adding that there are plans by his administration to name major institutions in the state after former governors of the state.

He stated that the move was in recognition of Obiano’s immense contribution to the development of the state, adding that it was time to honour every Anambra leader, who had made meaningful contributions to the development of the state.

“We will also find other institutions to name after other past governors, like Chief Emeka Ezeife, Dr. Chunwoke Mbadinuju, Dr Chris Ngige, and Peter Obi.

“We’ll also celebrate those putting in their money, creating jobs and wealth in the state. In Anambra, we don’t celebrate criminality, but hardwork and entrepreneurship,” Soludo stressed.

He also revealed that one of his visions is transforming the state from departure land to destination point, stressing that the summit would offer the state the opportunity to seal deals and sign various Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

He described the summit as extraordinary, assuring participants that it will be an eye-opener for the business community in Nigeria and beyond.
