Police authorities in Lagos have busted a fake drink factory in the Ojo area of the state.
“Officers of Ojo Division today arrested the duo of Imo Lawrence ‘m’ aged 35 and Magnus Nwonka ‘m’ aged 42 in possession of fake drinks,” spokesman of the command Benjamin Hundeyin said Wednesday.
“In the course of the investigation, the suspects led detectives to their inconspicuous, multi-room ‘factory.’ The investigation is ongoing.”
The development is coming on the heels of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) discovery of fake wine factories in Abia State.
According to NAFDAC officials, the products including wines, soft drinks, beverages, and others, were intercepted in Eziukwu Market, Aba.
The products were worth over N750,000,000. The discovery generated buzz on social media with Nigerians ruing the increasing level of fake consumer goods in the country’s markets and stores.
