NDLEA Secures 160 Convictions Against Illicit Drugs Traffickers…

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Anambra State Command says it secured one hundred and sixty convictions against traffickers in illicit drugs in the state in 2023.
The state commander of the agency, Mr Daniel Onyishi revealed that the command intercepted and seized three-point-three tons of different forms of illicit drugs in the year 2023 and promised their commitment to continue closing up on criminal elements who are using the state as a transit rule for their drugs or maintaining any form of clandestine laboratory where methamphetamine popularly known as “mkpụrụmmiri” is produced.
The NDLEA state commander commended the Judiciary for the reforms that is seeing to the faster prosecution of illegal drug peddlers which he said will help produce better results creating a society free of illicit drugs and the Anambra State government for their continued support to the agency in fulfilling its mandate in drug demand and supply reduction.
The NDLEA boss called on the community and religious leaders, civil society and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders to partner the agency to win the war against drug abuse and drug crimes in the society.
