2023: Don’t force anointed candidate on us, Akwa Ibom youths tell gov

Youths under the auspices of Onofiok Luke People’s Movement in Akwa Ibom State have asked Governor Udom Emmanuel not to interfere with their collective interest as it concerns the choice of who governs them in 2023.

The group insisted that the governor’s choice did not represent their collective interest.

Governor Udom Emmanuel had announced the Commissioner of Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, as his preferred successor in the 2023 governorship elections in the state.

But the youths drawn from the 31 LGAs of the state told the governor that they don’t have any problem with whoever he has chosen as his preferred successor but demanded a free hand to enable them to support a candidate of their choice in the 2023 election.

The Coordinator of the group, Ekemini Smart, who stated this during the statewide mobilisation for Onofiok Luke, said they believed in his capacity and ability and have resolved to propagate his governorship ambition without let or hindrance.

In a goodwill message to the group, the Coordinator of Amazing Grace Campaign Organisation in North America, Mr Otobong Umana, charged the youths of the state to join the train of supporters for Onofiok Luke, saying “it is time for the youths to rise up and take their destiny”.
