The Anglican Diocese on the Niger has withdrawn the ordination license of Reverend Canon Lumenkristi Eboh for alleged misconduct and fraudulent activities.

The Diocese made this known during a media briefing it organized to set the records straight on an allegation against the diocese and it’s Bishop, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo by the priest last week.

The briefing which took place at the Godwin Ezemo International Press Center, Awka reports that the diocese made its stand known through its Deputy Chancellor, Sir Ben Uzuegbu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Sir Ben said the priest absconded when he was invited to attend to the various allegations based on extortion of money from persons and refusal to pay back, impregnating a lady under his custody and secretly, registering another church without the consent of the diocese.

It said contrary to allegations made by Reverend Canon Eboh that the church has been intimidating him and taking money from him and turned against him when he stopped paying a certain amount to the church, that the church gave him a long period of time, praying for him as a lost sheep to return to its owner which yielded no results, until the said priest went public and leveled various degrees of allegations against the church and the bishop whom he took canonical oath to obey and respect.

The church said that it  can no longer tolerate his excesses and decided to sack him and withdraw his license as a priest

Earlier, the Director of Communication of the Diocese, Sir Oseloka Offor, said the Bishop wanted to settle the issue in house, since as a moulder of character, and those whose duty it is to win souls for Christ, but now that the matter has gone out, not of their own making, there is also need to let the public know what really transpired.

Sir Oseloka recounted all the welfare packages provided to priests of the diocese and said that priests in other dioceses sought to be posted to Diocese on the Niger because it is the foundation base of the church of Nigeria and thus, is blessed in evangelism, welfare of laity and priests among other things.

The church also diStributed paper documentations to back up their claims against the said priests to the media for authenticity.
