Sheriff steps down from APC chairmanship race

The former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has formally withdrawn from the national chairmanship race of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the declaration in Abuja on Sunday.
The frontline politician who hails from the North East region of the country said his decision was informed by the zone arrangement of the party that zoned the office, national chairman, to the North Central region.
The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party on the 8th of March approved the zoning arrangement presented by Gov. Abdulraham Abdulrazak Zoning Committee. The zoning formula zoned the office of the National Chairman to the North Central zone.
He however said that if the party have a rethink and throw the ticket open, he will not hesitate to offer himself for the office.
