Anambra State Govt To Close Health Facilities That Operate Below Standards… 

The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has paid an unannounced visit to Ogidi General hospital in Idemili North Local Government Area, as well as Enugwu-Ukwu General hospital, Njikoka Local Government Area.

Speaking during the visits, Dr. Obidike said that the unannounced visits offered him the opportunity to ascertain the commitment of health workers in the two secondary medical families, especially during this festive period.

The Commissioner however expressed total disappointment with the staff members of Ogidi General hospital, as the environment does not look like a hospital or where human beings are working and explained that the Governor. Chukwuma Soludo’s led administration is committing huge resources in repositioning all the healthcare centres across the state.

According to him, when they assumed office, the nineteen General Hospitals in the state lacked medical doctors but currently, they can boast of medical doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists and other health workers.

He regretted that in some hospitals like Ogidi General hospital, the workers are only interested in receiving salaries, instead of thinking of better ways to improve their work place as well as render good services to the people.

Dr. Obidike warned that from today, their Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Team will close down both Government owned and Private healthcare facilities that fall below standards.
