First Transshipment Vessel Arrives Lekki Port…

The management of the Lekki Deep Seaport has announced that Rimbaud has become the first transshipment vessel to berth at the port.

Making this known in a series of tweets on Friday, the port management said the ship operated by CMA CGM, has a Length Overall of 270m, a breadth of 42.8m and 6,900 Taus capacity.

It stated that the vessel sailed all the way from the Far East.

According to the tweet, the Nigerian Ports Authority provided marine services, adding that it was berthed at approximately 1pm on Thursday afternoon.

“The Nigerian Customs Agency boarded the vessel and all paperwork was certified to be in order.

“The transshipment volume on the vessel is 411 TEUs and the eventual destination will be Cotonou on 6th July 2023.

“Lekki Port is proud to actualize the objective of the Federal Ministry Of Transport, Nigeria and the Nigerian Ports Authority to bring transshipment volumes to Nigeria and this is the first of many more transshipment vessels to berth at Lekki Port,” the tweet added.

Sacrifice For Better Nigeria Must Start From Leaders – Peter Obi…

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has advised Nigerian leaders at all levels of government to lead by example in sacrificing for a better Nigeria.

He was commenting on a viral video allegedly showing President Bola Tinubu with about 120-car convoy in Lagos on his return from London on Tuesday.

Obi, who said a group of journalists ambushed him to comment on the video which he said he has not personally seen in an event in Anambra State on Thursday, maintained that the size and length of an official motorcade cannot measure the quality of leadership.

According to him, the present Nigeria requires that those who serve must serve prudently, and with a sense of selfless sacrifice.

He said the behaviour of the leaders, their character, and attitude must reflect the solutions to the challenges facing Nigerians “because our people are suffering in this country, and we must have that at the back of our minds.”

While urging the people to bear the present hardship for a better tomorrow patiently, the former Anambra State governor called on the leaders to live more frugally and act more responsibly for a better society.

“We must begin to drastically cut the cost of governance, and invest in different aspects of human development that will improve the lives of our people,” Obi added.
