Hunters rescue kidnap victim in Anambra… 

Operatives of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service have rescued a kidnap victim, Mrs. Ugochukwu Chikelue, an indigene of Umueri community, who was kidnapped last Friday, after four days in captivity.

The victim, who was kidnapped along Igboezulu- Aguleri road, at about 7pm, last Friday, on her way from the market, was rescued by hunters, led by the Deputy Commander-General (Technical Services), Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, Johnny Metchie.

Speaking after her rescue, Mrs. Chikelue narrated her ordeal in the hands of her captors. She said she saw death as her kidnappers tied her hands and legs and took her to a certain river bank, where she was asked to make her last phone call to determine whether she would continue to live or be thrown into the river. She said, while in hostage, her captors used gun buts on her head and stepped on her stomach.

Reacting, the DCG, Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), who also functions as the Prime Minister, Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) and President-General, Umueri community in Anambra-East Local Government Area, Johnny Metchie, said it was to the glory of God that the woman was rescued from captivity.

Metchie said it was only natural that he intervened when contacted as the PG of Umueri community, and the kidnap victim being an indigene of Umueri.

While commending the efforts of Governor Charles Soludo’s administration in tackling insecurity head-on in Anambra State through security agencies, he called for watertight security this festive season and beyond.
