Lent : Archbishop Ibezim Urges Christians To Uphold Prayers..

The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has called on Christians to use the period of lent which begins today to pray for the emergence of servant leaders in the forthcoming election.

Most Reverend Ibezim who made the call in a telephone conversation on the significance of Ash Wednesday, maintained that Nigeria needs those leaders who will be servants instead of masters.

He regretted the series of challenges Nigerians are passing through especially scarcity of currency, hike in the pump price of petrol as well as high cost of living and urged the citizenry to exercise patience and anchor their faith in God reminding them that every problem has an expiring date.

Most Reverend Ibezim who said that this year’s Lenten season is more significant to Nigerians because it falls within the period the Nation is conducting presidential and National Assembly election on February twenty-fifth and governorship election in some States and House of Assembly on March eleventh, charged Nigerians to see the forthcoming elections as crucial.

Most Reverend Ibezim stressed the need for the faithful to always seek the face of God in order to overcome life challenges noting that with fervent prayers the faithful can defeat all evil forces that had been holding the State and Nation hostage.

He expressed optimism that the forthcoming elections will positively transform the political landscape of the country.
