Mrs Obiano Empowers 134 Beneficiaries Of Skill Acquisition Programme, 8 Rehabilitated Mental Ill Health Patients

Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has presented start-up equipment to one hundred and thirty-four persons who had successfully undergone trainings in various skills.
The governor’s wife also presented departure gifts to eight persons who had successfully been rehabilitated at the Nteje Rehabilitation Home and certified mentally stable.
The empowerment was the highlight of activities for this year’s International Women’s Day celebration in Awka.
speaking shortly before presenting the equipment to the beneficiaries, Dr Obiano expressed satisfaction that the rehabilitated persons, could finally go back homes, and asked them to use the cash and equipment that were given to them to begin a new life.
Earlier, while lending her voice to the discussions on International Women’s Day, Dr Obiano said that the event is an urgent reminder to both the federal and State legislatures to pass the gender bill, and give Nigerian women a fair voice in governance.
She also called for equal female representation in politics, insisting that women must be allowed to explore their full potential without bias.
Dr Obiano revealed that her husband’s administration took the thirty-five percent affirmative action seriously, with women occupying key positions in the outgoing government.
