The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed seven police officers for gross misconduct while demoting 10 others.

In a statement, PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said the disciplinary measures were taken against the officers at the ongoing 15th Plenary Meeting of the commission which is expected to end on Thursday, October 6th.

The dismissed officers were a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), a Superintendent of Police (SP), and five Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).

Subsequently, Justice Clara Bata Ogunbiyi, the Commission’s acting chairman also retired a Superintendent of Police (SP) in the public interest.

He said Justice Ogunbiyi “considered all the Pending Disciplinary Matters (PDM) before the Commission totalling 47 and also treated some appeals from dismissed Police Officers”.

According to the PSC boss, the Commission would henceforth give the desired attention to Pending Disciplinary Matters so that those found guilty are punished immediately while those found not guilty are cleared to continue with their career progression.
