UNICEF Seeks Inclusion Of Child Rights Issues In Academic Curriculum

Written by on February 2, 2023

To achieve effective child development, the need to mainstream Child Rights issues in the curriculum of academic institutions and other public circles has been advocated.

The Communications Officer of UNICEF, Enugu Office, Dr. Ijeoma Onuoha-Ogwe, stated this in a chat with newsmen in Awka.

She said this will help raise public awareness on issues of violations going on in the society, as well as engender in stakeholders the consciousness to be alive to their roles in addressing the issues.

She revealed that issues of child rights have been under-reported in Nigeria, noting that as a result, UNICEF is supporting the institution of the child rights curriculum for scholars in higher institutions.

Dr Onuoha-Ogwe called for intensified efforts by all stakeholders towards promoting Child Rights and making it a point of discourse.
