Desilting of Okpoko Sakamori in Ogbaru Council Area  has commenced as promised by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to ensure free flow of water and reduce devastation of flooding.

It was gathered that the work is progressing as escalators were seen removing debris from the  Sakamori and emptying it into Tipper lorries which cart them away  .

The contractor, , said they have cleared up to three hundred meters of the drainage and hopefully will do majority of the work before the week runs out.

Speaking to the newsmen ,The President General of Okpoko, Chief Francis Enemuo expressed delight that work has started at the Sakamori as promised by the Governor pointing out that widening of the Idemili River where it connects with the Sakamori will enable the river to take the heavy flood from the Sakamori and discharges it into the River Niger.

He  cautioned Okpoko residents against  dropping waste inside drainages urging them to give the Governor all the support he needs  to deliver his mandate to the people.
